Honor has launched its innovative Robot Phone, featuring a motorised camera gimbal and 200-megapixel sensors, targeting creators and enthusiasts with advanced stabilisation and AI-driven filming capabilities.
HONOR has moved its Robot Phone from concept to commercial reality, turning what had looked like a futuristic showpiece into a flagship device built around a motorised camera module that can physically pan, tilt and stabilise inside the handset itself. The company says the phone is now entering global rollout after being previewed earlier in the year, with the first public demonstrations taking place at Mobile World Congress 2026 and later at industry events in Cannes and Shanghai.
At the centre of the device is a compact 4DoF Titanium Agile Gimbal, a mechanical assembly made from more than 100 parts and supported by more than 100 patents, according to HONOR. The company claims the system is much smaller than conventional gimbal hardware yet stronger, while a 2.6g titanium motor and a Super Steel Flip Motor are intended to let the camera move smoothly without breaking the phone’s integrated form factor. TechRadar, after spending time with the device, described it as a fully motorised camera system built into the chassis rather than an accessory bolted on.
The imaging setup is unusually ambitious for a phone. HONOR pairs a 200-megapixel gimbal-mounted main camera with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto unit and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The company says the main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording through an ARRI cinema mode, part of a new technical collaboration with ARRI announced this year. ARRI said the partnership is intended to bring some of its image-science and workflow principles into consumer devices. HONOR also says footage can be handled in formats suitable for editing in tools such as DaVinci Resolve, with ARRI LUTs available for colour grading.
Beyond the hardware, HONOR is leaning heavily on software and AI. The Robot Phone uses MagicOS with what the company calls YOYO Robot Mode, combining gesture recognition, contextual understanding and motion control. Features such as automatic subject tracking, voice source localisation and hands-free capture are designed to keep people in frame while filming or on video calls. The company also says the device can execute multi-step actions across apps and settings, while an open Agent Skills interface is meant to let third-party developers build on the camera’s movement and sensing functions.
Underneath the camera system, the phone is positioned firmly as a premium flagship. HONOR says it runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform, includes a 7,060mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, and uses a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1Hz to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Early hands-on reports from TechRadar and Tom’s Guide suggest the device is aimed less at the mass market than at creators and enthusiasts who want experimental imaging hardware, though Tom’s Guide also noted concerns about mechanical durability and the practical limits of a moving camera in everyday use.
