Google introduces new strategies, including the Pixel Upgrade Program and direct online sales, as it seeks to expand Pixel’s reach in India’s competitive premium smartphone market, without confirming if prices will stay steady for the Pixel 11 series.
Google is signalling that it wants the Pixel line to be more attainable in India, even as it stops short of promising that the Pixel 11 series will hold its current price point. In a teaser from Economic Times Digital, Mitul Shah, managing director for devices and services at Google India, said he could not say yet whether pricing would remain unchanged, but pointed to new partnerships and Google’s Pixel Update Program as ways to make the phones more approachable for Indian buyers.
That effort is already taking shape. Google has introduced the Pixel Upgrade Program in India, which offers no-cost monthly instalments starting at ₹3,333 and includes an assured buyback option after nine payments. The company says the structure is designed to lower the upfront cost of ownership and make regular upgrades easier for consumers who want premium devices without paying the full amount at once.
Google has also widened its retail reach in the country by selling Pixel devices directly through its own online store. The move sits alongside existing online and offline channels and gives the company a more direct route to customers for phones, watches and accessories. In a market where price, availability and after-sales access can shape adoption, the shift suggests Google is trying to tighten control over both sales and customer experience.
The pricing question matters because the Pixel 11 family is positioned firmly in the premium segment. According to the figures shared in the teaser, the Pixel 11 starts at ₹89,999, the Pixel 11 Pro at ₹1,19,999, the Pixel 11 Pro XL at ₹1,34,999 and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at ₹1,86,999. Shah, who previously held a senior sales role at Apple in India, now leads Google’s devices and services business in the country, giving him a central role in the company’s effort to expand Pixel’s reach in one of the world’s biggest smartphone markets.
