Tecno is set to unveil the Pova 8 Pro in India on 18 August, featuring a groundbreaking rear-panel Alive Matrix Display that reacts to notifications, calls, and gaming, marking a significant shift in design innovation.
Tecno is preparing to bring the Pova 8 Pro to India on 18 August, extending a line-up that has already been positioned around endurance, gaming and unusual industrial design. The handset follows the Pova 8 5G, which arrived in the market earlier this year, but the Pro model appears to push harder on visual identity, with Tecno teasing a rear-panel feature called the Alive Matrix Display.
According to Tecno’s own specification listing, the Pova 8 Pro 5G pairs a 6.78-inch flat AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G chipset. The company says it will be offered with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while power comes from a 6,500mAh battery with 45W Super Charge support. Tecno also lists Arc White, Graphite Black and Tundra Green as the available colour options.
The rear design is the phone’s main talking point. Tecno describes the Alive Matrix Display as an interactive lighting system built into the back panel, intended to show patterns, alerts and other visual cues rather than leaving the rear of the device purely decorative. Reports from technology sites say the system uses a large number of mini-LED elements and can react to calls, notifications, music playback, gaming and charging status. Tecno has framed the idea under a “Room Notices” concept that is meant to make the handset stand out at a glance.
The Pova 8 Pro arrives after the standard Pova 8 5G, which was introduced with a stronger emphasis on battery life and gaming performance. That model used a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chip and an 8,000mAh battery rated for up to two days of typical use, according to coverage from Gizmochina and other technology outlets. It also included a 50-megapixel Sony main camera and AI-assisted photography tools, showing that Tecno is keeping the series focused on practical features as well as design. The India launch on 18 August should fill in the remaining details, including pricing, final camera configuration and availability.
