Google announces a 7-year support policy for Pixel 11 smartphones, including official spare parts for batteries and screens, in a move that enhances repairability and meets EU durability regulations.
Google has confirmed that the Pixel 11 line will be supported with original spare parts for 7 years, giving owners a longer window to repair batteries, screens and other components without relying on third-party parts. The commitment covers the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold in all markets where the phones are sold.
The move is not entirely new for Google. Android Authority reported that the company made a similar 7-year spare-parts pledge for the Pixel 8 series, matching its long software-support policy. Android Headlines later said Google had not always spelled out how customers would buy those parts, but the broad message was clear: the company wants its flagship phones to remain repairable for much longer than the industry average.
That approach also fits the European Union’s tougher durability rules. Under the EU ecodesign framework, manufacturers must make spare parts available for 7 years after the last unit of a model is placed on the market, and the parts must arrive within 5 to 10 working days. The rules are intended to cut electronic waste, encourage repairs and make devices last longer before consumers are pushed into replacement purchases.
The battery angle is especially important. Mobile batteries naturally wear down over time, and after a few years of daily charging many users see a noticeable drop in runtime. A guaranteed supply of official replacement batteries means the phone’s software support is not the only factor deciding how long the device remains practical to use.
