Google prepares to launch Fitbit Air in India with minimalist fitness tracking and extended battery life

Google is set to introduce the Fitbit Air in India, a screenless fitness tracker focused on continuous health monitoring, boasting a seven-day battery life and key health features, amid rising demand for minimalist wearables.

Google is preparing to bring the Fitbit Air to India, adding a screenless fitness tracker to a market where minimalist wearables are gaining traction. Business Today’s Bazaar edition said Google signalled an October India launch during the Pixel 11 series presentation, although the company has not yet set out a firm local release date or full regional specification sheet. Google has already introduced the device globally, with several reports saying pre-orders opened earlier in 2026 and shipping began on 26 May 2026.

The Fitbit Air is built around continuous health tracking rather than smartwatch-style interaction. According to Google’s announcement and subsequent product coverage, it uses an optical heart rate sensor for round-the-clock monitoring, red and infrared sensors for blood oxygen, or SpO2, readings, and automatic workout detection. The device also tracks sleep and heart rate variability, with alerts for atrial fibrillation included among the supported health features.

Google has also kept the hardware deliberately simple. The tracker weighs about 12 grams and has no display, which makes it closer in design philosophy to a dedicated health band than to a conventional watch. It pairs with the Google Health app and works with both Android and iPhone devices. Several reports note that some software functions, including Google Health Coach, require a Health Premium subscription, while core tracking tools remain available without charge.

Battery life is another central selling point. Google says the Fitbit Air can run for up to 7 days on a full charge, a figure repeated across the company’s product material and independent coverage. Pricing has been set at $99.99 in global markets, which places it in the mid-range for a screenless tracker. For India, however, the key unresolved details remain the final launch date and local price, both of which Google has yet to confirm publicly.
