Rakuten Mobile has reduced the price of the Nothing Ear (a) wireless earbuds to 12,800 yen, continuing a year of strategic discounts on the mid-priced audio device amidst wider global sales campaigns.
Rakuten Mobile has cut the price of the Nothing Ear (a) wireless earbuds to 12,800 yen on its official Rakuten Ichiba store, trimming 1,180 yen from the previous 13,980 yen list price. The change took effect on Friday, 14 August at 9am, according to the company’s announcement, and applies while stocks last.
The Nothing Ear (a) remains a feature-led model in the mid-priced earbud market. Its specification list includes active noise cancellation rated at up to 45dB, adaptive ANC that adjusts to the surrounding environment, an 11mm dynamic driver and support for LDAC, the audio codec used for higher-bitrate wireless playback. The earbuds also carry high-resolution wireless audio certification, dual-device connectivity and an IP54 rating for the earbuds themselves, with IPX2 protection for the case. Battery life is quoted at up to 42.5 hours including the charging case, or 9.5 hours from the earbuds alone with noise cancellation switched off, according to Rakuten Mobile and product coverage from other technology outlets.
The model has been part of a broader sequence of discounts this year. Other retailers have recently advertised the same earbuds at sharp reductions in the US and Europe, while Nothing itself ran a summer sale in July that included the Ear (a), suggesting the product is being used aggressively to drive volume. Rakuten Mobile says the new price is available only for the black, white and yellow versions sold through its official store, and that sales may end once inventory is exhausted.
