Suno launches Studio 2.0, a major update that elevates its browser-based AI music platform into a full production environment with new MIDI capabilities, enhanced audio tools, and AI-assisted creative features, challenging traditional DAWs.
Suno has expanded Studio with a version 2.0 update that pushes the browser-based workstation further towards a full production environment, rather than a simple AI sketchpad. The most notable addition is MIDI support, which now allows users to import, record and edit parts on the timeline. Suno says this was the most requested feature for Studio, and the platform also adds a wavetable synthesiser for building sounds from scratch.
The company is also testing a chat bar, currently in beta, that lets users issue production requests in plain language. According to Suno, it can help create instruments and vocals, handle session clean-up and even assist with plugin design. That changes the workflow considerably: instead of only arranging clips, users can ask the software to generate and shape elements directly. For some producers, that may feel efficient; for others, it shifts too much of the creative process away from performance and editing.
Studio 2.0 also strengthens its audio tooling. Suno says stem separation has been improved to preserve more fidelity when splitting imported audio into individual parts, making it easier to rebuild and rearrange songs inside the browser. The update adds conventional effects such as sidechain compression and convolution reverb, plus automation lanes for track and plugin parameters, so mixes can now be developed without leaving the platform. Premier subscribers can export multitracks and stems at 32-bit/48kHz.
The wider strategy is clear. Suno describes Studio as a generative audio workstation that combines AI generation with a multitrack timeline, sample upload support and export options for audio and MIDI. That puts it closer to a lightweight DAW than a pure text-to-music tool. The update lands as Suno balances product expansion with legal and licensing pressure: the company has recently struck a licensing deal with BMG, while a Munich court ruling involving GEMA found unlicensed AI music training unlawful. Studio 2.0 is available now for Premier subscribers, priced at $24 a month.
