Insta360 X6 redefines premium 360 camera market with advanced features in India

Insta360 has launched the X6 flagship 360-degree camera in India, boasting 8K video, Dolby Vision, and AI-assisted editing, as the company solidifies its market dominance amid growing demand for high-end panoramic photography tools.

Insta360 has launched the X6 in India, placing its new flagship 360-degree camera at the centre of a market it already leads. The company said the model went on sale globally on 12 August and arrived in India during its first offline launch event in the country, held in Mumbai. It also pointed to IDC data showing a 71% value share of the worldwide panoramic camera market in the first quarter of 2026.

The Mumbai event was designed as much for creators as for product demonstration. About 100 people from the media and content community attended, with hands-on trials in a dedicated demo area and discussions across photography, motorcycling, lifestyle and video production. Brand collaborators Areesz Gandhi and Karan Raina presented the camera as a single tool that can move between everyday shooting, adventure work and social-first content.

The X6 is built around dual 1/1.1-inch square sensors and, according to Insta360, delivers the equivalent of a one-inch class 360 imaging system with improved light capture. The camera records 8K 360 video at 50 frames per second, supports 10-bit colour and is the first 360 camera with native in-camera Dolby Vision. It can also operate as a subject-tracking flat camera through InstaFrame 2.0 or as a single-lens action camera, with recording up to 5K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps.

Independent reviews suggest the hardware changes are meaningful. T3 said the larger sensors, new processor and Dolby Vision support make the X6 the company’s strongest 360 camera to date, while TechRadar highlighted better daylight and low-light performance, replaceable lenses and waterproofing to 20 metres. Tom’s Guide noted the built-in 47GB of storage, improved stabilisation and Bluetooth microphone support, although it also said the premium price limits broader appeal.

Insta360 is also leaning heavily on software. The company says its PanoMind AI system was trained on more than 10,000 hours of footage, and its AI Director feature can produce a highlight edit while the camera is charging. That automation is aimed at creators who want finished clips with less manual editing, especially in fast-moving travel, moto and action workflows.

In India, the X6 is available through Insta360’s local site, Amazon and Flipkart. Pricing starts at Rs81,990 for the Standard Bundle, rising to Rs92,990 for the Essentials Bundle and Rs99,990 for the Motorcycle Bundle. The camera is also being sold internationally from US$669.99, putting it firmly in the premium end of the growing 360-camera segment.
