Leaked benchmark data suggests Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will deliver significant performance improvements, featuring a 2nm manufacturing process and advanced GPU architecture, ahead of its official unveiling next month.
Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile chipset has surfaced in benchmark data ahead of its expected unveiling next month, offering the first substantial clue to the performance of the rumoured Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. According to a report from Gadgets 360, the chip is expected to appear at the company’s Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii, between September 22 and September 24, with premium phones from Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung and others likely to follow. The device is also said to be moving to a 2nm manufacturing process, marking a further step beyond the 3nm design used for the current Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The benchmark leak, attributed to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, identifies the part as SM8975 and claims it belongs to the Pro version of the new series. The AnTuTu result shown for the chip is 4,835,412 points overall, which puts it close to the 5 million threshold on that platform. The same listing gives a CPU arithmetic score of 320,633, a score of 318,984 in commonly used algorithms, and 639,306 in multi-core CPU testing, while CPU AI performance is listed at 90,007 points and total CPU performance at 1,368,930.
Graphics performance also appears to be a major focus. The chip is said to use an Adreno 850 GPU and to have recorded 1,854,826 points in the GPU portion of the AnTuTu test. Within that, it reportedly scored 156,718 in the Seasons: Light and Shadow Vulkan test and 849,992 in the Little Cabin Vulkan test. If accurate, those numbers would place the chip well above the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which according to Gizmochina crossed 2.7 million on AnTuTu 10 and delivered 3,125 in single-core and 9,932 in multi-core Geekbench v6 tests earlier this year.
The wider leak picture suggests Qualcomm is preparing a meaningful architectural refresh rather than a simple clock-speed increase. Gadgets 360 previously reported that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may use a 2+3+3 Oryon CPU layout, support LPDDR6 memory and retain the Adreno 850 graphics block. Separate reports have also pointed to a larger die than the outgoing generation, a detail that would fit a chip aimed at pushing both performance and efficiency in the most expensive Android handsets.
