Ashampoo Privacy Inspector 2 is positioned as a privacy and security utility for Windows users who want a clearer picture of what their system records about their activity. According to Ashampoo, the programme scans traces such as browsing history, search terms, recently opened files, downloads, DNS cache entries and system events, then lets users review and remove them selectively. The company says the tool is intended to suit both casual users and more experienced ones, with a relatively simple interface backed by detailed diagnostics.
One of the main additions is an Activities module that builds a chronological record of events on the PC. Ashampoo says this includes executed programmes, opened files and folders, software installs and updates, sign-ins and sign-outs, start-up and shut-down events, and software errors. The aim is less about cleaning up after the fact and more about showing how the machine is being used over time, which may help users spot activity they did not expect.
The software also extends beyond local system logs into browser data. Ashampoo says it can inspect activity across Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Brave, including multiple user profiles. It can show visited sites, search queries, downloads, browsing sessions, login activity and form entries, with both list and tree views available. That should make it easier to find personal information that might otherwise remain buried in browser data.
There is also a DNS cache module, which matters because Windows stores temporary DNS look-ups to speed up access to websites. Ashampoo says the tool can display cached records, check host file entries and clear stale or suspicious data. The package further includes an Internet Cleaner for browser cache, cookies, session data and temporary files, alongside a whitelist function for cookies that users want to keep.
Beyond cleanup, the programme adds stronger privacy controls. Ashampoo says users can reduce telemetry, location tracking, personalised advertising, data synchronisation, password syncing and other sharing features tied to Windows and some applications. The manual also describes a File Wiper for secure deletion and an Undeleter for recovering files removed by mistake, giving the tool a broader remit than conventional housekeeping software. For shared PCs, remote workers and administrators, that mix of monitoring, deletion and recovery may be its main appeal.
