Honor is set to release its Magic9 series, integrating ARRI’s professional cinema technology to bring advanced professional-grade imaging features to smartphones, with a reveal expected in late September.
HONOR is extending its work with ARRI beyond the Robot Phone, with the Magic9 series now set to inherit the same cinema-focused imaging features. The company has teased a September launch and shown a camera module carrying the ARRI badge, alongside what appears to be a multifunctional ring around the lens assembly. In the latest material, HONOR also highlights a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with optical image stabilisation and an f/2.6 aperture, a specification broadly in line with the Magic8 Pro.
The ARRI partnership is central to HONOR’s pitch for the new flagship line. The company says the Magic9 series will support ARRI LogC3, LUT-based colour grading and a dedicated ARRI Cinema mode intended to mimic the look and handling of ARRI’s professional film cameras. That mirrors the imaging direction first announced at Mobile World Congress 2026, where ARRI said the collaboration was designed to bring its image science into HONOR’s mobile camera architecture, with an emphasis on natural colour, restrained highlight roll-off and more convincing depth rendering.
Leaked renders suggest a triple-camera array on the rear, while the most detailed claims come from the tipster Digital Chat Station. He says the main camera may use a 200-megapixel 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.57 aperture and 3-degree optical image stabilisation, a setup that appears similar to the one used in the Robot Phone. If accurate, that would put the Magic9 series among the most heavily specified camera phones in the class, particularly for stills and video.
The broader product picture is also becoming clearer. Gizmochina reported earlier leaks pointing to ARRI-tuned imaging across the series and a renewed focus on video quality, while Gizchina has claimed the family will move to flat displays across the range. There is also disagreement over timing: some reports point to an October debut, but Digital Chat Station says HONOR is aiming for 28 September in China, which would bring the launch forward by roughly a month compared with last year’s Magic8 series.
