Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z series go on sale in Indonesia, featuring a refreshed design, enhanced security, and pricing above conventional smartphones, as the company aims to boost appeal through practicality and innovation.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 are now on sale in Indonesia, and the company is again trying to answer a familiar question: why would anyone leave a standard smartphone for a foldable that costs more and adds complexity? In a launch covered by Sindo News, Samsung Indonesia said the new line went on sale from 14 August 2026 through Samsung Experience Stores and its official local website, while Samsung’s own announcement emphasised a refreshed foldable design aimed at different kinds of users.
The company’s case rests on convenience as much as novelty. Samsung Indonesia said Smart Switch now makes data migration easier, including transfers from iPhone, while built-in security tools such as Samsung Knox, Personal Data Engine and Knox Vault are designed to protect personal information. One UI 9.0 adds privacy controls, including an AI Assistant Activity Dashboard and Privacy Alerts, and Samsung Care+ is positioned as a back-up for accidental damage and extended warranty cover.
Prices indicate that this remains a premium category. According to a separate report on the Indonesian launch, pre-orders began on 22 July 2026, with local pricing starting at Rp19,999,000 for the Galaxy Z Flip8, Rp28,499,000 for the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Rp44,499,000 for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. That pricing keeps foldables well above conventional flagship phones, even as Samsung expands the range with a third tier to broaden choice.
User testimony suggests that the appeal is practical rather than abstract. Sindo News quoted Tommy, a Fold8 Ultra user who had moved between several Samsung devices, as saying the larger screen makes document reading easier for work, while the thinner body improves day-to-day comfort. He also said he moved data directly from a Galaxy Z Flip7 to the Fold8 Ultra without using a computer. Other hands-on reports described the Flip8 as lighter, with a more capable cover display and new software features for video capture and editing, underscoring Samsung’s effort to make foldables feel less like a compromise and more like a different kind of daily tool.
