Xiaomi's Redmi 15C and POCO C85 blur lines in budget smartphone segment with shared specs

Xiaomi’s Redmi 15C and POCO C85 appear to be nearly identical budget smartphones, sharing specifications and design elements, highlighting Xiaomi’s strategy to segment the same base platform across different brands rather than offering distinct models.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 15C and POCO C85 appear to be closely related budget handsets, with most of the headline specifications lining up across both models. Several comparison listings describe them as sharing a 6.9-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, Android 15 with HyperOS 2, dual rear cameras and a 6,000mAh battery. Some also say they are powered by MediaTek’s Helio G81-Ultra chip, although a few specifications databases instead list the Dimensity 6300, underscoring how inconsistent online spec sheets can be for these entry-level devices.

On paper, the differences are modest. GSM Choice says both phones have the same dimensions and weight, at 173.16 x 81.07 x 8.20 mm and 205 grams, and both carry an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. It also notes that the Redmi 15C includes Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the POCO C85 listing does not specify equivalent screen protection. Other comparison sites add that the POCO version may be slightly thinner and that both displays reach a peak brightness of 810 nits.

The practical question for buyers is therefore less about hardware separation than branding, pricing and availability. Android Ponsel and other comparison pages say both models support 33W charging and use the same 50-megapixel dual-camera setup, which means the purchase decision is likely to come down to design, colour options and local market positioning rather than core performance. For shoppers looking at either device, the overlap suggests Xiaomi is segmenting the same base platform across two labels rather than offering two meaningfully different phones.
