Google unveils its latest Pixel smartphones, featuring slimmer camera bars, enhanced AI capabilities, and a focus on photography and everyday smart features to encourage users to stay within its software ecosystem.
Google has refreshed its Pixel range with thinner camera bars, a stronger zoom system and a heavier dose of artificial intelligence, in a launch aimed at persuading buyers to upgrade and spend more time inside its software ecosystem. The Associated Press reported that the new models are intended to make everyday tasks require fewer taps and swipes, while also widening the audience for Google’s AI tools.
The company’s latest phones, which start at 256GB of storage, also come with longer battery life, faster wireless charging and a higher starting price than last year’s line-up. According to the AP, the base Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are priced at $900, $1,100 and $1,300 in the US, while the Pixel Pro Fold starts at $1,900. Google has also removed the 128GB entry model.
Much of the pitch remains centred on photography and software. The AP said the phones add live translation for videos, podcasts and voice messages, together with a new Magic Capture mode that can automatically take a burst of photos and video with one shutter press. On the Pro models, Instant Night Sight is designed to speed up low-light shots, while improved light sensitivity is intended to help with darker scenes. The company is also offering six months of its AI Pro subscription with the higher-end handsets.
The launch fits a pattern that Google has followed for several years: using Pixel as a showcase for its AI strategy. In its 2025 Made by Google announcements, the company said the Pixel family was becoming more personalised and proactive, while earlier Google product posts highlighted features such as content credentials for images and broader AI tools in Pixel software. The latest release suggests that approach is now extending beyond individual camera tricks to the whole phone experience, with AI increasingly presented as the main reason to choose Pixel over rival devices.
