The Fujitsu FMV WU5-K3 combines lightweight portability with sufficient performance for daily tasks and light creative work, while offering a glimpse of AI integration in a mobile form factor.
Fujitsu Client Computing’s FMV WU5-K3 is built around a compromise that defines the modern ultraportable notebook: it aims to stay light, run long enough away from a socket, and still offer usable performance for everyday work. That balance matters because improving one of those priorities usually weakens another. In practice, the machine is positioned for users who want a computer they can carry constantly, rather than a larger model that chases maximum speed or a bigger battery.
The hardware tested in the review included an Intel Core Ultra 7 255U, 32GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. In benchmark testing, the machine delivered solid CPU results for a low-power U-series chip, with performance that should be adequate for general personal use, business tasks and lighter creative work such as Full HD video editing. Earlier hands-on reporting on the same model also stressed its extreme portability, with a weight of about 634g, and described it as one of the lightest notebooks in its class.
Graphics performance is more modest. The Core Ultra 7 255U relies on integrated Intel Graphics with four Xe cores, so demanding games remain out of reach. Even so, the machine handled Final Fantasy XIV at playable levels with settings adjusted, while Final Fantasy XV remained too heavy for comfortable use. Storage performance was notably stronger: the PCIe Gen4 SSD posted read and write figures that are fast by any current standard, making it unlikely to slow down everyday productivity or most content-creation tasks.
The system also includes an NPU, but at 12 TOPS it falls well short of the 40 TOPS threshold associated with Copilot+ PCs. That means it is not designed for the most ambitious on-device AI features, although it can still handle lighter tasks such as webcam enhancement while reducing CPU load. Battery life is more respectable than the 31Wh capacity suggests: under a YouTube playback test, the notebook lasted just over five hours. Another review measured a shorter result under different conditions, which underlines how strongly runtime depends on workload, brightness and usage pattern. Taken together, the WU5-K3 appears to be a carefully judged mobile machine for people who value carrying convenience above all else, but still need enough performance to remain productive.
