Ikea announces the VÄSTMÄRKE, a budget-friendly, versatile wireless charger featuring magnetic alignment and a phone grip, challenging traditional desktop docks with its innovative form and multi-role design.
Ikea has added a new wireless charger to its tech range that is as much about practicality as it is about price. The VÄSTMÄRKE charger is a small, bright red accessory shaped like a doughnut, and the company says it costs $9.99 in the US and €9.99 in parts of Europe. It is designed to reduce desk clutter while offering Qi2 wireless charging, magnetic alignment and a built-in USB-C lead.
The charger supports up to 15 watts for compatible phones, which places it in line with the latest Qi2 accessories now appearing across the market. According to Ikea’s product page, the unit includes a 47-inch USB-C cable and works best with a USB-C power adapter rated at at least 20 watts. That means the low sticker price does not remove the need for a capable wall charger if users want full performance.
What makes the VÄSTMÄRKE stand out is its form factor. The silicone body is meant to be held easily and also doubles as a phone grip when attached to a compatible handset. TechRadar reported that Ikea is marketing the accessory as part charger, part PopSocket-style holder, which gives it a more versatile role than a standard charging puck. The cable can also be tucked into the body for easier transport.
Compatibility is broader than many older magnetic chargers. Ikea says the device works with Qi-certified phones, including recent iPhones and Samsung Galaxy models when used with a magnetic case. TechRadar noted that the Qi2 standard also aligns with Apple’s MagSafe and Google’s PixelSnap systems, which should make the charger more useful across both iPhone and Android ecosystems.
