Samsung’s latest foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Ultra, are being supported by aggressive trade-in offers, carrier promotions, and free extras, making premium foldable devices more accessible amid mounting competition.
Samsung’s latest foldables are being sold with a mix of launch incentives, trade-in discounts and carrier extras, giving buyers more scope to reduce the cost of a premium device. According to Samsung’s US offers page, eligible trade-ins can cut as much as $1,200 from the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra, while some purchase paths add free gifts or extended warranty cover.
The Fold 8 itself marks a notable change in Samsung’s foldable line-up. Samsung unveiled the device on 22 July 2026, and the phone went on sale in the US in early August. It has a wider, shorter design than earlier generations, a 7.6-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch cover screen, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 4,800mAh battery and a 50MP main camera. It starts at $1,899 in the US and runs One UI 9 with seven years of software support.
Samsung is also pushing the more expensive Fold 8 Ultra as the model for heavier multitaskers. Product listings and coverage from Samsung and PhoneArena say it keeps the same platform but adds a larger 200MP main camera, a 5,000mAh battery and up to 1TB of storage. The Ultra is aimed at users who want more room for split-screen work and longer battery life, while the standard Fold 8 is positioned as the better option for media use and everyday handling.
Carrier promotions can make the deal even sharper. SamMobile reported that AT&T is offering the Fold 8 for free through bill credits on eligible trade-ins, with the same pre-order campaign covering the Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8. In the Dutch market, Galaxy Club says buyers ordering a Fold 8 through Odido or KPN by 27 September can claim a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, provided they request it by 27 November. That combination of cashback, trade-in value and free accessories shows how aggressively Samsung and its partners are competing for early foldable buyers.
