Samsung launches Galaxy Z Fold8 in Ghana, emphasising durability and power efficiency

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold8 in Ghana, transitioning from pre-order to general availability, featuring a lightweight design, enhanced durability, and advanced multitasking capabilities aimed at premium users seeking a versatile foldable device.

Samsung has begun selling the Galaxy Z Fold8 in Ghana, moving the foldable from pre-order into general availability from 17 August 2026 through authorised retailers. The launch positions the device as a premium handset aimed at users who want a phone that opens into a larger workspace for video, reading, gaming and productivity, while still remaining pocketable. According to Samsung’s own launch materials, the Ghana market follows the close of the pre-order window on 16 August.

The Fold8 is built around a 7.6-inch main display and a 5.5-inch cover screen, both using Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, according to Samsung’s product specifications. Samsung says the unfolded device measures 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.5mm and weighs about 201g, making it the company’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold to date. The design is intended to bridge quick handset use and more sustained tablet-like tasks without requiring a separate device.

Samsung has also placed emphasis on durability and hinge engineering. The company says the Fold8 uses Flex Titanium technology, an Armour Aluminium frame and Corning Gorilla Glass, alongside an Armour FlexHinge designed to improve the opening action. Samsung’s global announcement frames the device as part of its wider foldable strategy, with Galaxy AI integrated to support multitasking and more intuitive interaction across the two displays.

On features, Samsung says the handset includes a 4,800mAh battery and a dual rear camera system with a 50MP wide lens and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. The device is also listed in four colours, namely Lavender, Graphite, Cream and Pistachio. During the Ghana pre-order period, Samsung offered bundled incentives including a cover, a 60W travel adapter, Google AI Pro access, Samsung Care+ benefits and discounts on selected storage variants, underlining the company’s push to make its foldable range more commercially accessible.
