The Pixel 11 introduces a faster processor, doubled storage, and improved battery life, but its camera upgrades are centred on zoom at the expense of ultrawide resolution, raising questions about value versus performance.
Google’s Pixel 11 is a more capable phone than the Pixel 9, but the difference is not as dramatic as the pricing gap suggests. According to ZDNET contributor Maria Diaz, the new model is built on familiar foundations: the same 6.3-inch class, the same 12GB of memory, and a broadly similar design. The newer handset does, however, bring a Tensor G6 processor and doubled base storage, which should make it faster and better suited to heavier use.
The most obvious trade-off is in the camera system. Android Central and Digital Camera World reported that the Pixel 11’s main sensor remains a 48-megapixel unit, now tuned for greater light sensitivity, while the new telephoto lens adds proper long-range zoom. That comes at the expense of the ultrawide camera, which has a lower resolution than the Pixel 9’s version. In practical terms, Google appears to have shifted the hardware budget towards zoom photography and away from a higher-resolution ultrawide option.
Performance and battery life are likely to matter more to most buyers than the small change in main-camera resolution. Google says the Tensor G6 improves speed and efficiency, and industry coverage of the launch says the chip brings noticeable gains in both general performance and AI processing. The company also claims better battery longevity, while charging support has improved across the range, with faster wired and wireless charging than before.
That leaves value as the deciding factor. Google has raised the starting price of the Pixel 11 to $899, while the Pixel 9 has fallen in price over the past two years. For buyers who want the newest chip, more storage and a telephoto camera, the Pixel 11 is the stronger phone. For those who mainly want a compact premium Android handset and are willing to sacrifice some speed and zoom capability, the Pixel 9 still looks like the smarter purchase.
