The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, unveiled on 27 August, stakes its claim as a power-focused mid-range device with a colossal 10,000mAh battery and 100W fast-charging capabilities, signalling a shift towards durability and endurance.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will be unveiled globally on 27 August, and the company is positioning the device around battery endurance as much as display and charging. According to the teaser page on Xiaomi’s global website, the phone will carry a 10,000mAh battery and support 100W wired charging, placing it among the most aggressive power-focused mid-range handsets announced so far.
The official listing also points to a 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor and up to 12GB of RAM. Xiaomi says the rear camera system will be led by a 50MP main sensor, joined by a secondary lens, while the chassis is expected to carry IP69K dust and water resistance. The rear panel will also use photochromic material, a design choice that changes appearance under light.
The announcement marks a shift from earlier reporting, which suggested a MediaTek Dimensity 7500-class chip and largely framed the device as a high-capacity battery experiment. Xiaomi’s own specifications now make the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max look more settled, and more conventional, on the performance side, even if the battery size remains unusually large for the segment. The broader Redmi Note 17 family also appears to be leaning heavily on power and durability as selling points.
That direction is consistent with Xiaomi’s wider Redmi Note 17 strategy. Gizmochina reported that the standard Redmi Note 17 Pro, due to launch in China on 14 July, was confirmed with a 9,000mAh battery, 67W wired charging, 22.5W reverse wired charging and a five-year battery upgrade programme for first-sale buyers. Taken together, the Note 17 range suggests Xiaomi is using the series to push battery life and charging speeds into territory that was once reserved for far larger devices.
