The Redmi Note 17 5G has cleared Anatel approval in Brazil, suggesting Xiaomi’s plans for a regional launch with a notable battery upgrade and international expansion underway.
Xiaomi is moving the Redmi Note 17 5G towards a Brazilian launch after the handset cleared Anatel approval on Friday, 14 August, according to Tecnoblog. The certification paves the way for sales in the country and suggests the model will sit at the entry point of the next Redmi Note range with 5G support.
The Brazilian version is expected to differ in one important area from the Chinese and Indian editions: battery capacity. Tecnoblog said the unit approved for Brazil carries a 7,700mAh cell, identified as model BM7A and made by NVT. That is a sizeable step up from the Redmi Note 15 5G, which uses a 5,520mAh battery, although it still falls short of the 8,000mAh pack used in China and India.
The certificate also confirms 5G NR, Wi‑Fi 5, Bluetooth and NFC support, as well as compatibility with the MDY-17-EF charger rated at 45 watts. Other specifications are still unconfirmed for the global model, but listings and product pages in other markets point to a 7.0-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, 50-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera and Android 16-based HyperOS 3. Public product data also indicates memory options of 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage.
Additional regulatory filings outside Brazil suggest Xiaomi is preparing a wider international rollout. A Malaysian certification disclosed a 7,500mAh battery and 45W charging for a related Redmi 17 5G variant, while a UAE filing confirmed the global model number 26081RA18G. Tecnoblog reported that Xiaomi plans to reveal the Redmi Note 17 family on 27 August, with the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max also due to feature a 10,000mAh battery.
