Tecno is set to expand its Pova 8 series in India with the launch of the Pova 8 Pro 5G, featuring a high-capacity battery, gaming hardware, and distinctive design, promising to challenge mid-range competitors amid keen market interest.
Tecno is set to widen its Pova 8 line-up in India later today with the launch of the Pova 8 Pro 5G, a model aimed at buyers who want a large battery, fast charging, gaming-oriented hardware and a prominent design. The device follows the earlier debut of the standard Pova 8 5G in India in June, which positioned the series in the mid-range segment with a strong emphasis on display smoothness and battery life.
The company has already published the full specification sheet for the Pova 8 Pro 5G, although pricing has not been disclosed. According to Tecno’s official product information, the phone uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset and is offered with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It also includes a dedicated P1 graphic chip, which Tecno says supports higher frame rates in supported games, alongside 4D Game Vibration and Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers.
The display is a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness quoted at 4,500 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is used for protection. On the rear, Tecno has adopted an Interstellar Spaceship Design with an Alive Matrix Display built into the camera island, while the handset is offered in Arc White, Graphite Black and Tundra Green. For imaging, the phone combines a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 13-megapixel selfie camera.
Battery capacity is another key selling point. Tecno says the Pova 8 Pro 5G carries a 6,500mAh cell with 45W wired charging, 10W reverse wired charging and bypass charging support. The phone also carries IP66, IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance, while thermal management is handled by a 5,000 sq mm vapour chamber. It runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and includes Tecno AI features and the Ella assistant. After launch, the phone will be sold through Flipkart. While Tecno has not confirmed pricing, current market positioning suggests it could land below Rs. 40,000.
