LK Samyang is set to launch its new AF 60-180mm F2.8 L lens in August, featuring lightweight design, weather sealing, and advanced focusing for L-mount users, with early pre-order discounts and expanded warranty offerings.
LK Samyang will begin selling its AF 60-180mm F2.8 L on 27 August, with pre-orders opening from 18 August and a 10% launch discount offered to early buyers, according to the company. The telephoto zoom is the latest addition to its compact zoom range developed with Schneider-Kreuznach, and it extends the series into longer focal lengths for L-mount users. Reuters could not independently verify the launch plan, but the timing aligns with earlier industry reporting that the lens was due to complete the line-up this summer.
The new lens follows the AF 14-24mm F2.8 L and AF 24-60mm F2.8 L, which together form a three-lens system covering a broad zoom range in a relatively compact package. Industry site PetaPixel reported earlier this year that Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach had shown a pre-production version at CP+ 2026 in Yokohama, where it was described as the final piece of the series.
The company is positioning portability as the main selling point. LK Samyang says the lens weighs about 728g, measures 149mm in length and uses a 77mm filter thread, making it notably small for a constant-f/2.8 telephoto zoom. Optical Limits reported that the lens also uses a floating-focus design and a linear stepping motor, while the minimum focusing distance is said to be 35cm, enabling closer framing than many lenses in this class.
LK Samyang says the lens is built for field use, with weather sealing, an AF/MF switch, an AFL button and a zoom lock switch. It also lists a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.26x, which should make the lens useful for portrait detail work and close-up subject shooting. The company has also expanded its warranty terms: for purchases made from 1 August, coverage rises to five years in Europe and three years in other regions, up from two years and one year respectively. The terms and promotional details will be available through LK Samyang’s own store and authorised retailers.
