Honor has released its innovative Robot Phone in China, featuring a motorised 3-axis Agile Gimbal, a collaboration with ARRI, and AI-enhanced filming capabilities designed for solo creators, amid limited initial production.
Honor has begun open sales of its Robot Phone in China, turning last week’s unveiling into a commercial release at home while keeping the device out of overseas markets for now. The phone is being sold through Honor’s own online shop and partner retailers, with prices starting at CNY 9,999 for the 12GB/512GB model and rising to CNY 12,999 for a 16GB/1TB version. Honor has also indicated that this first generation is likely to be produced in limited numbers.
The main attraction is the camera system, which places a motorised gimbal at the centre of the design rather than treating stabilisation as a secondary feature. Android Central reported that the mechanism is a fully motorised three-axis Agile Gimbal, paired with a triple-camera array led by a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 200-megapixel telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The company says the setup is intended to give the phone a more autonomous shooting experience, including subject tracking and framing assistance.
Honor has pitched the device as a tool for solo creators as much as a conventional flagship smartphone. According to Android Central, the phone uses AI-based features for noise reduction, dynamic range tuning, gesture recognition and voice localisation through YOYO AI, allowing the camera to follow a subject with less manual input. That focus is reinforced by the physical design, which aims to combine portability with a built-in filming rig.
The imaging effort is also notable for Honor’s collaboration with ARRI, the cinema equipment maker. Android Central reported that the phone incorporates ARRI Image Science, ARRI LogC3 and ARRI Wide Gamut 3, with support from Honor’s in-house H1 image chip. Beneath the camera hardware, the device carries a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 7,060mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
