Xiaomi has increased prices for its Pad 8 series in India amidst rising component costs, while the older Pad 7 model is set to be phased out, leaving the newer model as the company’s main Android tablet offering.
Xiaomi has raised Indian prices for the Pad 8 line by as much as ₹3,000, with the increase affecting standard models, Nano Texture versions and bundles that include the stylus. The 8GB+128GB tablet now starts at ₹38,999, while the most expensive Pen and Nano combination has climbed to ₹50,999. According to reports, Xiaomi Pad 7 is also set to be phased out in India, bringing the older model’s run to an end after a relatively brief market life.
The revised pricing marks a sharp change from launch. Xiaomi introduced the Pad 8 in India in March 2026 at ₹33,999 for the base 8GB+128GB model, with the 12GB+256GB version at ₹36,999. The Nano Texture display variant arrived at ₹38,999, while Creator’s Edition models were positioned higher still. Xiaomi also sells accessories separately, including the Focus Pen Pro and keyboard options aimed at productivity users.
The company has not publicly explained the latest price move, but earlier reporting pointed to rising memory and storage component costs as the main pressure point. Gizmochina and Gadgets360 both reported an earlier ₹2,000 increase across the Pad 8 range in India, suggesting this is at least the second upward revision in recent months. That would make the device notably more expensive than at launch, especially for buyers looking at the higher-capacity or bundled configurations.
By contrast, the Xiaomi Pad 7 appears to be nearing the end of its retail life in India. Xiaomi launched that tablet in January 2025 at ₹27,999 for the base model, and its official product page still lists configurations up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with an 11.2-inch 3.2K 144Hz display and a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor. If the discontinuation report proves accurate, Xiaomi will soon be left in the market with the newer Pad 8 as its main Android tablet offering.
