TECNO launches the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India, featuring a groundbreaking Alive Matrix Display, massive 6,500mAh battery, and gaming-focused specs aimed at power users seeking durability and high performance.
TECNO has expanded its POVA line-up in India with the POVA 8 Pro 5G, a handset pitched at users who want a large battery, a high-refresh AMOLED screen and gaming-focused hardware rather than a conventional mid-range design. The phone follows the POVA 8 5G, which arrived earlier in June, and TECNO is positioning the Pro model as a more feature-rich alternative with a stronger display, a separate graphics chip and a more advanced rear camera setup. Official specifications published by TECNO and details carried by MobiGyaan point to a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor, and a 6,500mAh battery with 45W charging.
The most distinctive element is TECNO’s Alive Matrix Display, an interactive Mini LED arrangement built into the rear panel. TECNO says the system uses 177 independently controlled Mini LED beads and can react to more than 49 scenarios, including calls, messages and gaming alerts. The company has paired that with an interstellar-themed industrial design, a dedicated One-Tap Button for shortcuts and an emphasis on durability, including Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and IP69K, IP69, IP68 and IP66 resistance ratings. TECNO says the phone measures 7.39mm thick and weighs 189 grams.
Under the bonnet, the POVA 8 Pro 5G relies on a 4nm Dimensity 7400 Ultimate platform, LPDDR5X memory of up to 12GB and storage of up to 512GB. TECNO also adds its P1 Graphic Chip, which it says is intended to improve frame interpolation, super resolution and video upscaling in supported games and media. The company claims the system can deliver up to 144fps in compatible titles, while the cooling package includes a 5,000mm² vapour chamber. 91mobiles notes that earlier POVA 8 coverage focused on the standard model’s battery-first approach, but the Pro version is clearly aimed at buyers who want stronger gaming credentials as well as endurance.
Battery life remains central to the pitch. TECNO says the 6,500mAh cell supports up to 32.8 hours of use, with claims including 86.9 hours of music playback and 11.7 hours of FPS gaming, and that the battery can charge from 0% to 100% in around an hour with 45W Super Charge. The company also says the handset supports 10W reverse charging, bypass charging during demanding tasks and what it calls battery self-healing technology. That claim is difficult to verify independently, but the broader power strategy is in line with the POVA family’s emphasis on long runtime, which was also central to the earlier POVA 8 5G launch covered by Mint and Moneycontrol.
On imaging, the phone uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with optical image stabilisation, joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP front camera. TECNO says the rear system supports up to 2K video recording, while the front camera can record at up to 4K 30fps. The software layer is HiOS 16 based on Android 16, and TECNO promises two generations of Android upgrades and three years of security patches. The company has also built in a wide set of AI tools, including call transcription and summaries, web summaries, writing assistance and cross-device file transfer features. In India, the POVA 8 Pro 5G is priced at ₹49,999 for the 8GB/256GB model and ₹54,999 for the 12GB/512GB variant, with sales due from 21 August 2026 through Flipkart and offline retail, alongside launch offers that reduce the effective entry price to ₹46,999.
