Huawei has launched its newest MatePad Air (2026) in Malaysia, featuring a 12-inch OLED display, lightweight design, and advanced gaming and productivity features, aiming to disrupt the mid-range tablet market.
Huawei has brought the MatePad Air (2026) to Malaysia, pitching the tablet as a thin, productivity-focused device with a stronger display upgrade than its predecessor. At 5.3mm thick and 509g, it is one of the lightest and slimmest models in Huawei’s tablet range, and it comes in Airy Blue, White and Sakura Pink.
The main change is the move to a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte screen, replacing the older LCD panel used in the previous generation. The display has a resolution of 2,800 x 1,840, a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Huawei says the anti-reflective finish is meant to improve readability and make handwriting feel more natural when paired with the optional M-Pencil Pro.
For performance, Huawei has paired the tablet with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, although it has not highlighted the chip in its Malaysian launch material. Other reports on the global model identify the Kirin T93C processor and HarmonyOS 4.3, along with a 3D cooling system using a custom vapour chamber and graphite to keep performance stable under sustained load.
The battery is rated at 10,100mAh and supports 66W SuperCharge. Huawei claims up to 16 hours of video playback. The tablet also includes a 50MP rear camera, a 12MP front camera, six speakers and compatibility with the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-Pencil Pro. On the software side, Huawei is bundling WPS Office 3.0 with AI features, GoPaint and Huawei Notes.
In Malaysia, the MatePad Air (2026) costs RM3,999. It is being sold through HUAWEI Experience Stores and the company’s own online channels, including its website and official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. Huawei is also offering a launch package with accessories and services valued at up to RM4,503, including a voucher, keyboard, stylus, mouse, WPS Office access, Huawei Notes AI and premium support.
