Elecom introduces a new 1m USB Type-C cable featuring a silicone jacket for reduced kinking, supporting 240W fast charging and eco-conscious materials, available from late August in four colours.
Elecom has unveiled a new 1m USB Type-C cable line built around a silicone jacket that it says is less prone to kinking and tangling. The four colours, black, white, powder blue and soft lavender, are due to go on sale in late August, with a street price of ¥1,980 before tax. According to the company, the softer finish is intended to make the cable easier to coil and store neatly in a bag or pocket.
The cable is USB-IF certified and uses USB Type-C connectors at both ends, allowing it to handle charging and data transfer. Elecom says the product supports USB Power Delivery EPR at up to 240W, or 48V/5A, provided the connected device also supports that specification. It also includes an eMarker chip to negotiate power delivery and help stabilise charging.
For data, the cable supports transfers of up to 480Mbps, which is in line with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed performance. Elecom says the connector housing is marked with key specifications so users can identify the cable more easily. The company also notes that the product has passed the USB standard’s TDR compliance test.
Elecom is also positioning the cable as a safety- and environment-conscious accessory. It uses flame-retardant materials, gold-plated pins to help reduce signal degradation, and packaging made only from paper, cardboard and plastic bags. The product is also said to meet at least one of Elecom’s own environmental certification standards and to comply with the EU RoHS directive.
