Tecno launches the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India, featuring a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, dual-feature lighting, and a robust 6,500mAh battery, targeting gaming and design enthusiasts with high-spec hardware at an accessible price.
Tecno has brought the POVA 8 Pro 5G to India, positioning it as a more ambitious follow-up to the standard POVA 8 and centring the device on design, battery life and gaming-focused hardware. The phone arrives with a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel, a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K-class resolution, while the rear is dominated by the company’s Alive Matrix lighting system, which uses 177 mini LEDs to deliver animated effects across more than 49 use cases, including calls, messages and transfers. Tecno says the phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16.
Under the bonnet, the handset uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chip, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. The company is offering two configurations, with memory expansion allowing the 8GB model to behave like 16GB and the 12GB version to reach 24GB. Tecno is also leaning on gaming claims, citing a 2,800Hz instant touch sampling rate and up to 4,500 nits of peak outdoor brightness for the display.
Battery capacity is another main selling point. The POVA 8 Pro 5G carries a 6,500mAh cell with 45W charging, while the phone’s body measures 7.39mm thick and weighs 189g. Tecno has also fitted an IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K-rated chassis, along with SGS-certified military-grade protection, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and an in-display fingerprint reader.
For imaging, the device pairs a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main camera with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, while a 13MP front camera handles selfies. In India, Tecno has set the starting price at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB/256GB model and Rs 54,999 for the 12GB/512GB version, with a temporary launch offer trimming the entry price to Rs 46,999 on select card and UPI payments. Sales begin on 21 August through Flipkart and retail stores, with Arc White, Graphite Black and Tundra Green available as colour options.
