AI-enabled tablets shift focus to practical utility with faster growth in education sector

The global market for AI-enabled tablets is expanding beyond niche applications, driven by advances in on-device intelligence, with education emerging as a key growth area amid ongoing innovation and regional market shifts.

The market for AI-enabled tablets is moving from a niche proposition into a broader product category, with QY Research estimating that global revenue will rise from about US$20.38 billion in 2025 to US$26.9 billion by 2032. The report says the market would expand at a compound annual growth rate of 4.1% over the forecast period, as manufacturers add more on-device intelligence to devices long associated with media consumption and basic productivity. The appeal rests on faster response times, greater privacy and more capable software tools built into the tablet itself.

What distinguishes the category from conventional tablets is not simply more powerful processors, but a deeper integration of artificial intelligence across the operating system and applications. According to QY Research, current use cases include voice assistants, intelligent note-taking, document summarisation, real-time translation, image enhancement and personalised recommendations. In practice, that means the tablet is being repositioned as a flexible work-and-study device rather than a passive screen. Education appears to be one of the clearest growth areas. Regionally, QY Research identifies North America as a major market, supported by strong consumer electronics demand and enterprise use, while Asia-Pacific is expected to grow quickly on the back of manufacturing strength, digital adoption and rising AI investment. The firm says China, Japan, South Korea and India are central to that momentum. In Europe, growth is expected to be steadier, supported by digital education and workplace modernisation. For manufacturers and investors, the message is that AI tablets are still a developing category, but one that is increasingly shaped by practical utility rather than novelty alone.
