Sandisk has introduced two NAS-focused SSD families, including the extremely durable NAS 800 with a 14 petabyte write endurance, aimed at professionals requiring continuous, high-speed storage solutions.
Sandisk has expanded its storage line-up with two NAS-focused SSD families aimed at always-on systems that need both speed and durability. The new NAS 600 uses the familiar 2.5-inch SATA format, while the NAS 800 moves to M.2 2280 and targets faster NVMe deployments for prosumers, creative professionals and small businesses running shared storage. According to Tom’s Hardware, the company is positioning both ranges for network-attached storage rather than general desktop use, where endurance demands are typically lower.
The standout model is the NAS 800 7.68TB, which Sandisk says is rated for 14 petabytes written over its life. In practical terms, that works out at roughly one full drive write per day across a five-year warranty period, a level of endurance more commonly associated with enterprise SSDs than with consumer hardware. Tom’s Hardware noted that the figure is far above the endurance usually seen in mainstream SSDs and comfortably ahead of many NAS-oriented alternatives. Other reports on the launch described the same drive as a PCIe Gen 5 model built for heavy 24/7 workloads.
Sandisk’s specifications show a clear split between the two families. The NAS 600 tops out at 560MB/s for sequential reads and 520MB/s for writes, with capacities from 500GB to 4TB and endurance reaching 2,500TBW on the largest model. The NAS 800 is far quicker, with read speeds up to 14,900MB/s and write speeds up to 13,200MB/s, while capacities range from 960GB to 7.68TB. The same product table shows endurance rising from 1,750TBW on the smallest NAS 800 to 14,000TBW on the flagship drive.
Pricing reflects the niche these drives are meant to serve. The NAS 600 starts at $179.99 for 500GB and rises to $999.99 for 4TB. The NAS 800 begins at $309.99 for 960GB and reaches $2,199.99 for the 7.68TB version. Sandisk says both series will carry a limited five-year warranty and go on sale in September.
