Amazon raises prices on Echo, Kindle, and eero devices amid rising component costs

Amazon has quietly increased the prices of its smart speakers, streaming devices, e-readers, and routers in response to rising memory and storage component costs, signalling a shift in consumer electronics pricing amidst ongoing supply pressures.

Amazon has quietly raised prices across several of its own devices, lifting costs on Echo speakers, Fire TV sticks, Kindle e-readers and eero routers as pressure from memory and storage parts continues to feed through consumer electronics. Fortune first flagged the changes, which were made without a formal product launch or broad announcement. Amazon later confirmed the increases and said component costs had risen significantly.

The steepest move appears to be on the entry-level Echo Dot, which has climbed from $49.99 to $79.99. Other Echo hardware has also become dearer, including the Echo Show 11, which Fortune said rose from $219.99 to $249.99, and the Echo Show 21, which Engadget reported moved from $400 to $500. The pattern suggests Amazon has used price rises across its smart speaker and display range rather than limiting the adjustment to one model family.

The same approach has reached its streaming and reading products. According to Fortune, the Fire TV Stick HD is now priced at $39.99, up from $34.99, while the Fire TV Stick 4K Max has risen from $59.99 to $84.99. Amazon’s 16GB Kindle has moved from $109.99 to $149.99, and the 16GB Kindle Paperwhite has gone from $159.99 to $199.99. Engadget also reported higher pricing on the latest Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite models, while noting that Ring devices were left unchanged.

Amazon’s eero mesh networking range has been affected as well. Engadget said the three-device eero 7 now costs $400, up from $350, while the eero Pro 7 three-pack has increased from $700 to $800. The company told Fortune that it had absorbed the higher costs for as long as possible before revising pricing, and said it still aimed to keep products accessible while using promotions through the year. The changes follow similar moves by other hardware makers, with Apple and Roku having already raised prices in response to tighter component supply.
