Xiaomi introduces the POCO X8 Pro in Spain, offering nearly flagship-level specifications including a 64MP main camera, 6,500mAh battery, and gaming optimisations, all at a significantly lower price than its premium counterparts.
Xiaomi has brought the POCO X8 Pro to Spain, positioning it as a far cheaper alternative to the Xiaomi 17T while keeping much of the same core hardware. The comparison is difficult to ignore: the new model starts at €339.99, well below the €749.99 asking price of the 17T when it launched in May, yet it still targets buyers looking for strong performance, long battery life and a more premium finish.
At the heart of the phone is MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra, a 4nm chip that Xiaomi says lifts CPU performance by 7% and graphics performance by 25% thanks to its Mali-G720 GPU. The company is also pitching the handset as gaming-friendly, pointing to its WildBoost software, which can raise resolution to 1.5K and support 90 frames per second, alongside a claimed 24-times improvement in touch resolution for finer control.
To keep the chip cool, Xiaomi has fitted a dual-layer POCO 3D IceLoop system with a 5,300mm2 surface area, designed to move heat away from the areas that need it most. The battery is another major selling point. Official Xiaomi Spain listings confirm a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon cell, 100W HyperCharge support and IP68 protection against dust and water. Xiaomi says the phone can be fully charged in 48 minutes with a compatible charger, and it also supports reverse charging for accessories and other devices.
The display is also close to what Xiaomi offers on the 17T. It measures 6.59 inches, uses a 1.5K AMOLED panel and refreshes at 120Hz. Xiaomi quotes a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, PWM dimming at 3,840Hz and a 94.10% screen-to-body ratio. The company also says a new luminous material improves efficiency by 20%, which should help reduce power consumption in day-to-day use.
The main compromise is in the camera system. Instead of the more elaborate setup found on the 17T, the POCO X8 Pro uses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 main sensor with optical image stabilisation and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The phone keeps the metal frame and glass rear panel that Xiaomi links to a more upmarket feel, and it adds RGB lighting around the camera module for notifications and visual effects during music playback or gaming. In Spain, the base model comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in black or white for €339.99, while the yellow version starts at €399.99. A 12GB variant is listed at €479.99, although Xiaomi is currently offering it at €389.99 in white and mint green. The company also says an Iron Man special edition is in preparation, with pricing set at €499.99 and release timing still to be confirmed.
