The MSI Stealth 16 AI+ B3W offers a slim, luxurious chassis with high-end specs and a versatile display, but faces compromises in performance and audio at a premium price point.
MSI’s Stealth 16 AI+ B3W is a rare thing: a 16-inch gaming laptop that tries to look and feel more like a premium ultraportable than a brute-force machine. PC Gamer said the result is one of the most luxurious laptops it has used, with a slim aluminium chassis, a large trackpad and a restrained design that would not look out of place in a meeting room or café.
That polish comes with compromise. The machine pairs Intel’s Core Ultra 9 386H with an RTX 5080 mobile GPU, but MSI has limited the graphics chip to 125W to keep the chassis thin and quiet enough to live with. In practice, that means performance sits below heavier machines with the same GPU, including models with unrestricted 175W RTX 5080 parts, although it still outpaces many RTX 5070 laptops.
The display is a major strength. PC Gamer praised the 16-inch, 16:10 OLED panel for its contrast, colour and 240Hz refresh rate, and noted that the screen format suits both work and play. The port selection is unusually generous for such a slim device, with Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, USB-A and Ethernet all present.
The review’s biggest criticism was audio. The speakers sound clear and loud, but the default audio path introduces noticeable latency in games, especially shooters. That issue did not appear when using a USB audio device, and MSI told PC Gamer it was investigating. For buyers willing to use external headphones, the problem may be manageable; for everyone else, it is a serious flaw at this price point.
Battery life is respectable rather than exceptional, helped by the efficiency-oriented processor and the power-limited GPU. PC Gamer said the laptop was able to last through a workday in Balanced mode and delivered close to two hours of gaming. But value remains the hardest part of the equation. At roughly £3,350 for the 2TB version, this is a very expensive machine, and PC Gamer concluded that its premium design only justifies itself if portability and presentation matter as much as raw speed.
