Google enhances Gemini Live with multi-service management and personalised summaries

Google has expanded its Gemini Live assistant, integrating tools for multi-step tasks across services, daily summaries, and personalised responses, aiming to transform it into a more autonomous digital agent.

Google has broadened Gemini Live beyond voice-based questions, adding tools that let the assistant carry out multi-step work across several Google services. The upgrade is aimed at turning the feature from a conversational interface into something closer to an agent that can organise information, prepare documents and manage routine tasks with less manual input.

According to Google’s own materials, Spark is now being folded into Gemini Live for subscribers to Google AI Pro and higher tiers. The company says it can take natural speech instructions and act across the web, Google Drive, Docs and Sheets, including work that spans days or weeks and continues in the background even when the Gemini app is not in use.

Google has also introduced Daily Brief, a morning summary feature that draws on Gmail and Google Calendar to read out key messages, appointments and updates. The company’s support documentation says the service is designed to surface the most relevant items quickly, reducing the need for users to check each app separately. Gmail management is also being extended, with voice commands for searching, summarising, starring, archiving and deleting messages.

Another part of the update is Personal Intelligence, which lets Gemini use previously shared context and connected Google services to produce more tailored replies. Google says this can include references to Gmail, Photos, Search and YouTube, so the assistant can answer questions such as where a restaurant was visited on a previous trip or retrieve an item discussed earlier. The company says users must opt in to app connections in Gemini settings, while Spark requires Google AI Pro or above and Daily Brief needs Google AI Plus or above.
