Audio-Technica launches affordable ATH-M20xSTS headset with integrated microphone for streamers

Audio-Technica has announced the release of its new ATH-M20xSTS streaming headset, combining studio-quality sound and a flexible microphone, targeting entry-level streamers and podcasters. The device features high-quality drivers and broad connectivity options, with a launch promotion including try-on rentals and gift incentives.

Audio-Technica will release the ATH-M20xSTS streaming headset on 28 August, positioning it as an entry-level model for streamers, podcasters and other content creators who want monitoring headphones and a microphone in one device. According to the company, the design combines the tuning approach of its M Series studio headphones with microphone technology from its AT20 line, aiming to deliver accurate sound reproduction and clear voice capture without requiring separate hardware.

The headset uses 40mm drivers with a high-strength magnetic circuit and CCAW voice coils, which Audio-Technica says are intended to provide a broad, flat monitoring response and strong stereo imaging. In practical terms, that should help users hear fine details in games, streams and recorded audio more clearly, especially when checking balance and positioning during live production.

For voice capture, the ATH-M20xSTS uses a cardioid condenser microphone mounted on a flexible boom arm. The boom keeps the capsule close to the mouth regardless of head movement, while a flip-up motion mutes the microphone quickly. Audio-Technica says this arrangement is tuned for the arm’s fixed position, with the aim of keeping speech prominent while reducing surrounding noise.

Connectivity is broad for a wired headset. The model supports a 3.5mm four-pole mini plug, plus USB Type-C and Type-A compatibility, allowing use with PCs, mobile devices and consoles. The cable is detachable, which should simplify storage and replacement. At about 236g, the headset is relatively light, and it uses breathable mesh ear pads and oval ear cups to improve comfort and isolation during longer sessions, according to the company and product listings.

Audio-Technica is also linking the launch to hands-on trials and a purchase promotion. From 29 August, the headset will be available as a rental device at eSPORTS CAFE AIM branches in Ikebukuro and Takadanobaba, subject to availability. Separately, the company’s online store is offering an original cleaning cloth to customers who reserve or buy the ATH-M20xSTS between 26 August at 10.00am and 9 September at 11.59pm.
