Pioneer enters the in-car accessory market with innovative Qi2 magnetic wireless chargers featuring active cooling and durable USB cables, addressing increased heat and demand for convenience among iPhone users.
Pioneer has moved into a new corner of the in-car accessories market with a range aimed chiefly at iPhone users. The best-known name in car audio has added Qi2 wireless charging, MagSafe-style magnetic alignment, and USB cables to its line-up, alongside a dual-port 12V car charger. The move broadens the brand beyond head units and audio systems into a category where buyers increasingly expect both convenience and thermal management.
The most notable product is a Qi2 magnetic car charger that clips to an air vent and adds a rear-mounted cooling fan. Pioneer says the fan is designed to disperse heat produced during charging, rather than blow air directly on to the handset. The charger supports up to 15W wireless charging and is intended for newer iPhones that can snap into place magnetically. Pioneer also offers a simpler wireless version without active cooling, plus a basic vent mount with no charging function. The cooling model, the SDA-SC600, is priced at $64.99, while the SC400 and SC200 are lower-cost alternatives.
That design sits in a crowded category, but it is not unusual. Verbatim’s Charge ‘n’ Drive Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Car Charger, sold by B&H Photo, also combines Qi2 charging with an integrated cooling fan, while offering both vent and suction-mount options. The cables are described as compatible with Android Auto and CarPlay, and the braided versions are positioned as the more durable option, echoing the wider market trend towards woven and reinforced charging leads seen in products from Belkin and Beats. Pioneer’s USB-A to USB-C braided cable costs $24.99, the silicone version $19.99, and USB-C to USB-C variants are also available. The final accessory is a car charger with one USB-C port and one USB-A port, rated at up to 38W and priced at $25.99.
