Samsung set to revolutionise gaming display technology with the launch of the world’s first 1,100Hz monitor, alongside an extensive OLED range designed for immersive and high-speed gaming experiences.
Samsung has used Gamescom 2026 to outline its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor range, with the headline act being the Odyssey G6, a 27-inch model it says is the first monitor able to reach 1,100Hz. The company is also broadening its OLED line-up with new 49-inch, 42-inch and 32-inch displays, signalling a split strategy between extreme-speed competitive panels and larger, more immersive screens for story-led games.
The G6 is the most attention-grabbing specification in the range. Samsung says the Fast IPS display can run at 1,100Hz in HD through its Dual Mode function, or at 600Hz in QHD when higher detail is preferred. The panel is rated at 1ms response time. While the practical value of such a refresh rate will depend on the rest of the system, it marks another step in the industry’s race to push motion clarity ever higher.
At the other end of the range sits the Odyssey OLED G9, a 49-inch super-ultrawide monitor using Samsung’s fifth-generation QD-OLED panel. It offers 5120 x 1440 resolution at 360Hz, with Dual Mode allowing operation at 720Hz in a lower-resolution HD mode. Samsung is pairing that size with unusually high refresh rates, aiming to bridge the gap between ultrawide immersion and esports-style speed. The new Odyssey OLED G8 follows a similar idea in a more conventional 32-inch format, combining 4K resolution with Triple Mode settings that let users choose between 360Hz in UHD, 520Hz in QHD and 680Hz in FHD.
Samsung’s new 42-inch Odyssey OLED G7 is designed more for immersion than outright speed. It is the company’s first 42-inch curved 16:9 OLED gaming monitor, with a 1000R curve, 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Samsung is positioning it for role-playing and open-world games, where a larger field of view and a more enveloping shape matter more than the extreme frame rates seen on the G6, G8 and G9. Tom’s Hardware noted that the G7 also carries Samsung’s Glare Free coating, intended to reduce reflections in brighter rooms.
Beyond hardware, Samsung is extending its HDR10+ GAMING push and says support should reach more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027. The company has named Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 among the games expected to adopt the format through work with Activision Blizzard. Samsung is also continuing to develop its glasses-free Odyssey 3D technology, with recent support added for Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn. Pricing and regional availability have not yet been announced.
