Nextorage launches a 1TB microSD Express card with PCIe/NVMe standard, promising faster load times and durability for Nintendo Switch 2 users seeking increased capacity and performance.
Nextorage’s microSD Express card is being positioned as a practical storage upgrade for Nintendo Switch 2 users who want both speed and capacity. According to ASCII.jp, the 1TB model is being sold on Amazon Japan for ¥39,980, a discount of 8 per cent as of 31 August. The appeal is straightforward: the card uses the newer PCIe/NVMe standard rather than the older UHS-I interface, and Nextorage says that allows much faster loading and file transfers.
Nextorage says the G Series EX microSD Express cards can reach a maximum read speed of 880MB/s. That is far above the ceiling of conventional UHS-I cards, which are limited to 104MB/s, and should help reduce waiting times in games that stream data frequently. The company also says the cards have been tested for use with Nintendo Switch 2, making them a targeted option for players who expect to fill the console’s built-in 256GB storage quickly with large titles and screenshots.
Durability is another part of the pitch. Nextorage says the cards have passed 10 protection tests, including IPX7 water resistance and shock resistance, and the product line is backed by a five-year warranty. The company also highlights the Japanese brand pedigree as a reassurance for users storing game libraries and other important data on the card.
The broader market suggests this is becoming a more competitive category. Nextorage announced 512GB and 1TB versions of the G Series EX in September 2025, with launch prices of about ¥17,980 and ¥35,900 respectively. GamesRadar’s 2026 buying guide for Nintendo Switch 2 microSD Express cards also shows that capacity and speed remain the main trade-offs, with 1TB models increasingly aimed at heavy digital game users.
