Huawei launches the FreeBuds Neo, a mid-range earbud featuring adaptive noise cancellation, high-quality LDAC support, multipoint Bluetooth pairing, and an IP55 rating for dust and rain resistance. With a sleek design and up to 40 hours of total battery life, the earbuds aim to attract users seeking flexible, high-performance wireless audio.
Huawei has added the FreeBuds Neo to its earbud range, positioning them between its higher-end FreeBuds Pro line and the more basic FreeBuds models. The company is aiming them at users who want a compact in-ear design with adaptive noise cancellation, spatial audio and Hi-Res Audio support, rather than a stripped-back set of wireless earphones.
The headline feature is audio flexibility. Huawei says the FreeBuds Neo support LDAC for high-quality wireless playback on non-Huawei phones, while Huawei devices can use the company’s L2HC 4.0 codec for higher-resolution audio transmission. The earbuds are also Bluetooth 6.0 capable and support multipoint pairing, which lets them stay connected to two devices at once. For calls, Huawei combines three microphones with a bone-conduction sensor to improve voice pickup in noisy surroundings.
Design is another focus. Each earbud weighs about 4.9g and uses a short stem for fit, antenna placement and touch controls. The stem accepts tap, press-and-hold and swipe gestures for playback and volume. Huawei also says the earbuds carry an IP55 rating, so they should withstand dust, rain and gym use, though not immersion. Four silicone tip sizes are included.
Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours without ANC and 6.5 hours with it enabled, with the charging case taking the total to as much as 38 hours. A 10-minute charge is said to deliver around four hours of listening. The FreeBuds Neo are on sale now in black, white, silver and pink for €129, with a €20 launch discount running until 19 October. Huawei’s own product pages carry the same pricing and feature list, although some early reports rounded the total battery figure up to 40 hours.
