Jabra has launched Reach, a USB-C extension system designed to streamline AV connections in meeting rooms, enabling easier and more standardised laptop integrations over distances up to 100 metres.
Jabra has introduced Reach, a USB-C bring-your-own-device extension system aimed at making meeting-room set-ups simpler and more consistent. The company says the product reduces a typical tangle of separate video, audio and USB links to a single user-facing cable, giving a laptop access to the room’s display, camera, microphones and speakers.
Built on HDBaseT, Reach can carry that connection up to 100m between the table and the room system, while also supporting up to 100W of USB-C power delivery. Jabra says the design is intended to help integrators standardise deployments across rooms of different sizes, cut down on adapters at the table and make the user experience more predictable.
The hardware has been designed for discreet installation, with mounting options at the table or behind the display. Concealed ports and secured cabling are meant to keep the installation tidy and reduce the chance of accidental disconnection or tampering. Jabra also says the system can be administered through Jabra Plus Management, allowing IT teams to configure, monitor and support rooms from a central platform.
Holger Reisinger, senior vice-president of Jabra’s video business unit, said the goal was to remove the friction that often comes with laptop-led meetings. “Walking into a room and connecting your own laptop should be the simplest thing in the world – but too often it isn’t,” he said. “You have the wrong cable, the wrong connector, a dropped signal or a table full of adapters. Jabra Reach solves that at the infrastructure level.” He added that the system works with any video bar or room system without changing the existing set-up. Alongside Reach, Jabra is also rolling out firmware updates across its PanaCast range, adding people-count data, custom display wallpaper, browser-based device configuration and command-line tools for large-scale management.
Jabra says Reach will be available from 5 October, with pricing set at $899. The firmware updates for the PanaCast portfolio will follow over the coming months.
