Google has launched a new on-device battery feature for Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 phones that offers user-friendly summaries of power usage, enhancing troubleshooting while prioritising privacy.
Google has started rolling out a new battery feature for recent Pixel phones that turns power statistics into plain-language summaries. The tool is designed to help users understand why their handset is draining faster than expected without having to interpret graphs and detailed usage charts in the Settings app.
According to Google’s support information, the feature appears at the top of the standard Battery Usage screen and is generated on device by Gemini Nano. It reads recent battery data, compares current consumption with recent daily averages and highlights the apps drawing the most power. Google says the analysis stays on the handset, rather than being sent to the cloud for processing.
The summaries are enabled after installing the latest version of the AI Core app, and the rollout is automatic once that update is in place. Reports from Android Authority and 9to5Google indicate that Google is limiting the launch to the Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 families, with older models excluded. That makes the feature one of the more tightly targeted AI additions to Pixel software so far.
In practical terms, the system is intended to give users a short explanation such as whether battery drain is above normal for the time of day and which apps are responsible. AndroidPure and GSMDome both report that the feature also keeps an eye on background activity, which should make it easier to spot apps that are quietly consuming power. Android Authority’s APK teardown suggests Google may also use the same analysis to offer battery-saving tips, although that is not part of the publicly documented rollout.
The move fits Google’s wider effort to use on-device AI for everyday diagnostics rather than only for headline features. It also reflects a growing emphasis on privacy-preserving processing, since the summaries are generated locally. For Pixel owners on supported devices, the change should make battery troubleshooting faster and less technical.
