Anker unveils MindBase, an AI-powered home hub featuring on-device processing, local storage, and active deterrence security, signalling a shift towards more autonomous and privacy-conscious smart homes.
Anker has unveiled MindBase, an AI home hub that it says is designed to make smart homes act more autonomously. Rather than simply passing alerts to a phone, the system uses on-device AI agents to assess events from connected cameras and sensors, then decide whether to respond with lighting changes, spoken warnings or other deterrent actions. According to How-To Geek, that approach is aimed at reducing the need for custom automations or constant manual oversight, particularly during the night or when users are away.
The platform is built around a local AI Core compute card, which Anker says keeps processing in the home rather than pushing it to the cloud. MacRumors reported that MindBase also doubles as a network-attached storage system with up to 48TB of local storage, allowing it to hold files, photos and video from connected devices. That local design is intended to address privacy concerns while also giving the hub a role beyond security.
Anker is launching the first MindBase-based package as the MindBase Security Kit, which combines the hub with a new TrackLight Cam S1, the Eufy Video Doorbell S4, a Smart Security Shield sensor and entry and motion sensors. The system is meant to work with nearly 100 existing Anker products and hundreds of Matter-compatible devices, and it also ties into ecosystems including Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google and Home Assistant, according to MacRumors and Android Authority. The company has not yet disclosed pricing or availability for the kit.
The security hardware itself points to a stronger emphasis on active deterrence. Anker says the TrackLight Cam can use 4K video, 180-degree dual-radar detection and auto-tracking light, while the doorbell offers a panoramic 3K view. MacRumors reported that the radar-based sensor can detect strangers from up to 15 metres away at the edge of a property. In parallel, Eufy has been expanding its camera line-up, with Android Authority noting the E50 NVR Security System, the upcoming Window Camera E10 and the later launch of the Video Doorbell S4, suggesting MindBase will arrive as part of a broader push across the brand’s security range.
