At IFA 2026, Lenovo introduces the ThinkBook Project Swan, a rollable business laptop that expands from a 14-inch to a 17-inch display, blending portability with increased workspace for professionals.
Lenovo has shown a new business laptop concept at IFA 2026 that stretches its OLED display sideways from 14 inches to 17 inches, giving users a wider workspace without moving to a larger chassis. According to 3DNews, the prototype is called ThinkBook Project Swan and is intended for the commercial market, where portability and screen real estate often have to be balanced carefully.
The concept is not Lenovo’s first attempt at a flexible notebook display, but it is more restrained than some earlier experiments. PCWorld and Tom’s Hardware both describe Project Swan as a rollable ThinkBook with a horizontal expansion mechanism, unlike the company’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, which extends vertically. In its compact form, it looks much like a standard 14-inch laptop, but the panel can open out into a more traditional 16:9 17-inch format when extra room is needed for multitasking or editing.
The hardware package is also close to something that could plausibly reach production. 3DNews reports a thickness of 17.9mm and a weight of 1.6kg, while other reports say the prototype is powered by Intel’s Lunar Lake platform. That puts it in the same general class as thin-and-light premium notebooks, although the thicker lid needed for the moving screen leaves less room for a wide opening angle and raises questions about long-term hinge durability.
Lenovo’s recent concept work suggests it is trying to make foldable and rollable PCs less experimental and more commercially realistic. The company already brought a rollable laptop to market last year with the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, which launched at a starting price of $3,500, before memory shortages pushed component costs higher, according to 3DNews. Project Swan appears to be aimed at a more measured trade-off: enough novelty to enlarge the display on demand, but with enough restraint to keep weight, reliability and price within business-laptop limits.
