Honor 600S 5G debuts as rugged, budget-friendly powerhouse with enhanced AI features

The Honor 600S 5G, initially launched quietly in Hong Kong, is making waves with its combination of robust protection, massive battery, and advanced AI capabilities, challenging traditional budget phone norms.

Honor’s 600S 5G has moved quickly from a quiet Hong Kong debut to aggressive real-world pricing. By 4 September, local listings were already showing offers around HK$1,830, below the handset’s HK$1,999 recommended retail price, while carrier promotions were pushing it lower on contract. That matters because the device is not competing on fashionable extras first. The rollout has unfolded in stages rather than through one global launch. Taiwan was initially described by launch coverage as the next market, and Honor now has a Taiwan product page live, although public local pricing was not visible there on 4 September. The hardware pitch is straightforward: a large, inexpensive phone designed to survive unpleasant working conditions. Launch reports put the handset at 168.3 x 78.54 x 8.30mm and 216.5g, with a 6.87-inch display and a claimed 2.5-metre drop tolerance backed by SGS five-star certification. Honor’s Hong Kong and Taiwan product pages also advertise wet-hand touch input, one-tap dust and water drainage, an underwater shooting mode and operation in temperatures from -30°C to 50°C. Battery life is the part of the specification that gives the 600S its clearest identity. E-zone and Now News, citing Honor laboratory tests, said the phone can deliver up to 21 hours of video playback or 15 hours of gaming, and that the battery should retain more than 80% of its capacity after five years of use. Charging is capped at 45W wired SuperCharge, and Honor says that top speed requires its compatible charger and cable. The 600S also steps up from the related 600 Smart 5G, which The Tech Outlook said carries a 7,700mAh battery. Honor is also using the model to push its AI Image-to-Video 2.0 tool.
