Xiaomi Redmi 17 4G prioritises battery life with 7,500mAh capacity and fast charging

Xiaomi launches the Redmi 17 4G, a budget-friendly smartphone emphasising extended battery endurance, rapid charging, and basic performance features over premium design and high-end imaging.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 17 4G has been introduced as a value-focused large-screen handset with an emphasis on battery life rather than premium materials or high-end imaging. According to reports on the launch, the phone arrived on 10 August 2026 and is being positioned in a segment where long endurance, fast charging and basic everyday performance matter more than advanced flagship features.

The device uses a 6.9-inch IPS LCD panel with a 720 x 1600 resolution and a 20:9 aspect ratio, alongside a 120Hz refresh rate reported by several specification listings. It measures 170.1 x 78.4 x 8.8 mm, weighs 232g and comes in Black, Deep Blue, Lotus Purple and Oak Green. The chassis is said to carry an IP64 rating, which gives it limited protection against dust and splashes.

Under the bonnet, the Redmi 17 4G is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G91 Ultra chip, paired with a Mali-G52 graphics unit. It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 and is listed in multiple memory configurations, ranging from 4GB to 6GB of RAM with 128GB or 256GB of storage. Reports also point to LPDDR4x memory and eMMC 5.1 storage, which place it firmly in the budget category.

The headline hardware feature is the 7,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, which supports 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi has also fitted a dual rear camera system led by a 50-megapixel main sensor, plus an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS, NFC on some variants, FM radio and USB Type-C 2.0, while the sensor package includes a side-mounted fingerprint reader, an accelerometer, a compass and virtual proximity sensing.
