Sony announced its first fisheye zoom lens, the FE 8-14mm F3.5 G, offering a versatile, compact option for landscape, architecture, sports, and video photographers, set to launch in October 2026.
Sony has announced the FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G, its first fisheye zoom lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras. The company said the lens is intended to cover a range from circular fisheye at 8mm to diagonal fisheye at 14mm, with a constant f/3.5 aperture. Sony also said it is aimed at landscapes, architecture, sports and video work.
The lens is positioned as a compact option for photographers and video makers who want a pronounced fisheye look without carrying a large optic. According to Sony, it weighs about 314g and uses an inner zoom design to keep the balance more stable as the focal length changes. The company also says the optical construction uses ED glass and aspherical elements to control distortion and other aberrations across the frame.
Sony says the lens focuses as close as 0.15m and offers 0.22x magnification at the telephoto end, which should allow for tightly framed close-ups with a strong fisheye effect. The firm added that autofocus is fast and precise, while manual focus is linear-response and focus breathing is reduced for video use. It also includes an aperture ring, zoom lock and weather-resistant sealing, although Sony notes that the sealing is not guaranteed to be fully dust- or moisture-proof.
The lens will go on sale in October 2026, with pre-orders due to open on 8 September 2026. Sony has set the US price at $1,599.99 and the Canadian price at CAD $1,999.99. The company also said it will show the lens at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, and that it can be used in a dual-lens setup with the VENICE Extension System Mini for spatial content production.
