Leaked images of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy SmartTag 3 hint at a redesign closer to the Galaxy Watch 9, but with notable compromises in attachment options. The tracker retains core features like Bluetooth Low Energy and ultra-wideband, while launch timing and battery life remain uncertain.
Samsung’s next tracker is edging closer to release, but the latest leaked images suggest the Galaxy SmartTag 3 may be a mixed update. According to reporting from Android Central and other sites citing leaked renders, Samsung appears to be moving to a squircle-shaped design, closer to the look of the Galaxy Watch 9 family than the elongated form of the SmartTag 2. The device is also said to come in white and black.
The sharper design language comes with a practical trade-off: the renders reportedly show no built-in attachment hole. PhoneArena and SamMobile both say that users may need to buy a separate case, clip or carabiner accessory before they can fasten the tag to keys, bags or pet collars. That would mark a clear change from earlier SmartTags, which offered integrated attachment options.
On the feature side, the leak points to a familiar set of connectivity tools. SamMobile and Android Authority say the SmartTag 3 is expected to keep Bluetooth Low Energy, ultra-wideband support and Samsung Find integration, while one report adds that NFC-based Lost Mode may also return. Android Authority further notes that water resistance may remain part of the package, and there is even talk of a Bluetooth 6.0 upgrade, although that detail is still unconfirmed.
Pricing rumours suggest Samsung may keep the device near the current level in the US, at about $30, with Europe possibly seeing a small increase. SamMobile also reports that a four-pack could remain an option at a discount relative to buying single units. Battery life, however, remains unclear, and that matters because the SmartTag line has relied on long endurance as one of its main selling points.
Launch timing is still unsettled. Earlier speculation linked the SmartTag 3 to the Galaxy S26 FE, but that phone arrived without it, leaving the tracker without a companion debut. SamMobile says the accessory could still arrive before the end of the year, while other reports leave open the possibility of a standalone launch. For now, the clearest message from the leaks is that Samsung is redesigning the tag, but not necessarily improving its most useful feature: easy attachment.
