Apple’s latest premium iPhone has been positioned as the benchmark for high-end smartphones, but the real challenge in the ultra-premium bracket may come from two camera-led Android rivals. The Vivo X300 Ultra and OPPO Find X9 Ultra are both pitched as imaging-first flagships with unusually ambitious hardware, and on paper they give the iPhone 18 Pro Max a serious fight across photography, display quality and battery life.
The three phones take sharply different design routes. According to the specification details, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is the heaviest of the group at 249g and uses Ceramic Shield 2 with aluminium, while the Vivo X300 Ultra is the slimmest at 8.2mm and aims for a lighter feel without giving up premium materials. OPPO’s Find X9 Ultra sits between the two in size but uses a glass-fibre reinforced back, with durability a clear theme across the range. The Vivo X300 Ultra moves up to a 6,600mAh-class battery, while the OPPO Find X9 Ultra leads with a 7,050mAh silicon-carbon pack. Android Central reported that OPPO’s phone can last up to two days and supports 100W charging, while the Vivo model also pairs a large battery with 100W wired charging. For buyers evaluating these phones at the very top end of the market, the choice comes down to priorities rather than outright victory. The iPhone 18 Pro Max looks best for raw performance, creator-focused video and software refinement. The Vivo X300 Ultra appears tailored to users who want the most advanced high-resolution camera hardware in a slimmer body. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra, meanwhile, may be the most rounded Android option, combining the widest zoom range, the largest battery and a polished software package.
