Samsung’s S90H sits in the middle of a crowded OLED market, but it has one clear advantage: a new anti-reflective screen that makes it far more usable in bright rooms. CNET found that the coating does an effective job of cutting glare from lamps and windows, while RTINGS also highlighted its strong reflection handling and suitability for rooms with a lot of light. For buyers weighing value against premium performance, that makes the S90H one of the more practical OLED options available.
The panel itself remains close to Samsung’s earlier formula, and that is not a criticism. CNET said picture quality is broadly comparable to pricier models, with deep blacks, accurate colour and strong uniformity typical of OLED technology. Tom’s Guide’s comparison with Samsung’s higher-end S95H backed up the idea that the S90H gives up some brightness and colour precision, but still delivers the core OLED strengths many viewers want.
Where the set becomes more interesting is in mixed-use living spaces. Samsung’s coating reduces distracting reflections, but CNET noted a small trade-off: blacks can look a little greyer under room light, and reds may appear slightly muted. Tom’s Guide reached a similar conclusion when comparing the S90H with LG’s C6, saying LG holds an edge for Dolby Vision support and home cinema performance, while Samsung is the better bet for bright-room viewing.
The S90H also looks well suited to gaming. CNET recorded input lag of 9.33 milliseconds in 4K HDR, which is among the better results for a television, and praised the set’s responsive feel in play. RTINGS likewise pointed to low input lag and support for high refresh rates. TechRadar added that Samsung has equipped the range with 165Hz support, VRR and compatibility with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, making it a credible choice for both consoles and PCs.
Samsung has also leaned heavily into AI features and a cleaner smart-TV interface. CNET said the home screen is more organised than before, though still busy with AI branding such as AI Soccer Mode and AI-powered upscaling. Some of those additions sound more like re-labelling than genuine innovation, but the underlying point is straightforward: Samsung has made the S90H easier to live with without changing the essential OLED experience. For shoppers who want a strong picture, excellent gaming support and better daylight performance without moving up to the flagship tier, it is a sensible compromise.
